Air Shield Dam Inspection & Maintenance Guide to Extend Service Life
Air shield dams feature low failure rates, but standardized inspection and maintenance are essential to maintain stable performance and prolong service time. Proper maintenance can avoid common faults such as air leakage, shaking and unsmooth lifting.
Daily inspection focuses on air tightness and structural integrity. Operators should regularly check rubber bladders for cracking and air leakage, and verify air pipelines and valves are sealed. Check steel shield plates for corrosion, deformation or scratches, and clear sediment and floating debris on time to prevent long-term friction damage.
Seasonal maintenance is critical. Before flood season, run full lifting and lowering tests to ensure the air supply system responds quickly and full flattening works normally. In hot dry seasons, inspect rubber aging and apply protective coating against UV radiation. In cold winter, drain residual water inside air pipelines to prevent freeze cracking.
Regular equipment calibration and component care are required. Calibrate the pneumatic control system for accurate water level adjustment. Lubricate hinges of steel panels and tighten loose bolts. Replace worn sealing parts on schedule to keep overall sealing performance.
With systematic inspection and maintenance, you can greatly reduce failure risks and ensure year-round safe operation of air shield dams.
